Meeting minutes 3/30/2010

Announcements:
LexisNexis State Capital is being canceled. Salem will lead the development of a web page on State Legal Research.
Facman will be coming to do work on the air ducts, they say it should fix both the blowing air and temperature issues. If it doesn't work we will let them know.

1) McGov
We discussed Linda's plan to add space for the govpubs special collection titles and move processing all behind Rocky Flats. All approved. Linda will be investigating moving the War Department Annual Reports into McGov.
2) Legislative Calendars
We all agreed that the Legislative Calendars should live in reference. Only the recent issue will live there, previous years will go to PASCAL.
3) Map Shelf
There was a vigorous discussion on the map shelf. The end decision is to eliminate it, these are the steps we will follow:

1. Send titles that should go to maps to maps (see wiki page on maps)
2. Reconnect maps that go with print to their print volumes
3. Move posters to map case
4. Map library will review what is left and take what they want
5. The rest will be boxed, enveloped, etc. to send to shelves. If a title needs to be protected it can go to McGov. If a title is to oddly shaped it can be sent to PASCAL.

4) Serial Set
We had a lot of discussion on the serial set and how it displays on serials. The decision is to add the year (the one of the spine of the volume) to each volume.

Meeting Minutes, 3-16-2010

The meeting was initially canceled due to staff absences. Jennie decided to give a quick presentation on using three different Census resources: Social Explorer, Geolytics, and the Census Bureau's website (www.census.gov). Her presentation included a table describing which databases are best for which situations (ask Jennie for the handout. Peggy would also like to have the table added to one/some of our web pages on the Census).

Jennie will repeat this presentation at next week's Tuesday meeting.

Department Meeting March 9, 2010

This was the first meeting at the new time and day. With the help of careful planning, we will keep the meeting to one hour.
Two questions came up with regard to Deb’s work on the hearings. The first was the question of what call number, c, to display in the CIS fiche records. It was decided to add an 099 CIS and to leave the 086 0 in the record. Secondly, in the case of finding two slightly different call numbers in the LexisNexis records, it was decided to leave them.

Peggy’s remarks involved the future space plans for the Library and Gov.Pubs.
Linda brought up the myriad of problems with maps, i.e. wrong locations, split locations, the type of material on the map shelf vs. the map case etc. Later this week, Peggy, Jennie and Sheila are talking with the Map Library staff in the hopes of clearing up some of the problems

Minutes for Department Meeting 2/24/2019

Integrated Technical Report microfiche collection: All the technical reports, except for AD/PB and GPO, in microfiche have been integrated into one collection. Maps will be updated.

FBIS microfiche are in boxes waiting to be converted and processed for PASCAL.

On the fly records: Deb is finishing up her work on the on-the-fly records and will run another list for all of us to work on. (See Review File #84)

Tax Help - it's that time again. The Leeds School of Business is offering tax help through March 13th. Low income restrictions apply.

Stapler: Sheila passed around the new stapler and gave us instructions on how to refill it. (turn it upside down and load the staples upside down)

Census demo: Jennie gave us a demo on the BetaDataFerrett, using the example of the number of high school students who are registered to vote by state.
