Minutes: 8/26/2009

• Jennie reminded everyone to record all reference questions that come in via e-mail, telephone, and in person on Question Tracker. A new version of Question Tracker will be available early in the Semester. Stephanie Alexander redesigned the site based on data gathered over the summer.
• Chinook kiosks for quick lookups are coming. We're getting 2 near the Research desk and 2 in the Commons.
• After discussion, the following decisions were made with respect to pulling in new records from OCLC: If separate records for separate formats exist in OCLC bring in all appropriate records (electronic, microfiche or print). Do not need to modify record to take out URL. If you have a URL and no separate record exists, you can add that URL to the record. (You are not required to look for the URL.)
  NOTE: Follow CMS procedures for appropriate electronic records. The department will review CMS procedures at its next cataloging meeting.

Meeting minutes 8/5/09

1. The Periodicals that are put down in the commons still need some work on the Chinook records, but currently there is a list at the desk.
2. Auraria is giving us 14 microfiche cabinets. Linda is doing space calculations in McGov and is hoping to find a way to fit them all in.
3. LexisNexis Classic. The library has one login (which Peggy put in the roledex) funded by Business.
4. Peggy will cover the govpubs desk time when we all go to the science meeting on Thursday.
5. People are encouraged to lock their purses in the lockers when they get in. See Linda for a key.
6. We discussed changing the guide links to Chinook Beta (Encore) versus Chinook Classic. The decision was made to wait for now, but keep an eye on the issue. Despite III's assurances there is a difference in the relevancy ranking.
7. Deb will get a list of what fields are indexed in which index (keyword, subject, etc.) from CMS for our information.

Minutes from July 29, 2009
We began with the meeting with general announcements:
Peggy is talking with Susan and Yem about the funding for buying Parts B and C of the Congressional hearings and the digital version of the Congressional Record. They are esp. looking at gift funds.
We now have permanent access to the NTRL database.
We decided to locate the fountain at the table near the sink.
On Aug. 11, there will be a Denver meeting about the Ithaca study. Many members of the local Government Publications community will contribute.
Jennie also pointed out the place on our home page from which you can do a local or sudoc call number search.

On the discussion about our over abundance of chairs – nothing will be removed until Sean leaves. In the mean time, choose whatever chair you want and leave the others in the Office. Greg will need to be emailed to remove the old chairs. We need to return the ‘borrowed’ chairs to Bev Weddle or the new Commons area.
Jennie showed the new SourceOECD iLibrary. It is still being developed, but Jennie sees it as a real improvement over the old site. Once the iLibrary is complete, we will update the OECD page on our homepage.
On the point of historical-statistical material, Peggy wanted to caution us not to send any such material offsite. We are in process of retrieving one statistical title from Pascal. However, we CAN identify dead indexes to send to Pascal. Send Jennie any titles you find.
