Staff Meeting / Tuesday, March 27, 2007

1. Tim announced that systems will be looking to replace TELNET access to Chinook. This may affect Pat, Denise, Irma and Linda or any other GovPubs workers with passwords. Some access in this format may continue.

2. Silver Halide microfiche: currently not marked as such in McGov. Pat suggested that a stamp be used to mark this items, so that the silver halide fiche are not stored in containers with other formats.

3. Cataloging meeting: Linda attended the most recent catalogers meeting and learned of changes that have been discussed/implemented. Talk with her about the specifics.

4. Workshops: There will be two BCR workshops over AACR2 on April 24 and 25. The training will last from 9am to 4pm. Reservations are required because space is limited. Lunch will be provided.

Meeting Minutes for 3/13

A little on the late side, sorry!!!

We started out with a wonderful presentation on Discovering the Developing World by Leanne. Check out the handout online.

Then the meeting itself:

Leanne and Julie are working on cataloging our Rocky Flats collection. The items will NOT circulate in Prospector unless we have a microfiche or web backup. We will be binding things better when they circulate. Want to check out what is in the collection, you can search for it in Chinook using the terms "rocky flats collection" all the items will have this in the 561 field.

On a related, sad note, the Rocky Flats Electronic reading room was accidently erased. This data will have to be recaptured.

Problems with the printers on the weekend? If you wait long enough on 5-Help you will finally get access to a person who can come fix the printer.

If you have a problem with getting a flash drive released from a public computer, write down the computer that had the problem and send it to lib-help.

Pat gave a report on the wands that are needed. We also discussed which ones aren't working. If you can't get one to work report it to lib-help and put in the govpubs email address so that we will all know.

Tim will follow up on the discussion about new furniture for the department.

Department heads report: PASCAL will be getting to build a second bay. There is discussions ongoing about the use of Fleming Law for the library (after a few others are tenents).

Interviews are set up in April for the Head of reference position.

Tim will talk with Susan A. about doing ref. desk cross-training with Science and Reference.

Dept Meeting Notes - March 20, 2007

1. Stephanie Lichtenauer gave a presentation on RefWorks.

2. Colorado fiche is now in the back of the room.

3. Silver halide fiche all have new envelopes; however, they no longer are stamped "silver halide". Anybody know where the silver halide stamp is? If not, need to order one so new envelopes can be stamped.

4. When bringing up microprint, bring the whole box so it can be barcoded.

5. Pat asked why we were not getting enhanced OCLC records, with full contents notes, when they are free? She emailed Susan Anthes about this.
