Internal GP manual

Susan on her last day here has very nicely sent me a bunch of documents that deal with how to do some of her work. I have posted them to the internal manual, which you will see a link to in the sidebar. There are lots of unlinked topics, so if you have anything you want to add I would love to put them on there.

UN voting records

As you probably know UNBISNET (a database from the UN) has UN voting records back to 1983 for the General Assembly and back to 1946 for the Security Council. Now ICPSR (a database out of the University of Michigan) has SAS (a statistical software/format) versions of the voting records back to 1946 for the General Assembly as well. But if you don't know SAS or don't want to download the whole set, I discovered in the footnotes section of the Yearbook of the United Nations, key votes often have who voted for and against a particular measure. Just thought I would pass the information on.

CRS reports are now available in LexisNexis Congressional

If you click on Advanced Search in LexisNexis Congressional, you will see that we now have access to the Congressional Research Service Reports back to 1916. We also have access to some Committee Prints in full text. When you get your search results, there will be two sections labeled "Prints". The second section contains the link to the PDF. The rest of the Committee Prints will have PDFs added over the course of the year.

Printer problems

The printer has a "fuser failure" error. I reported it to the advisor this weekend, but they can't repair it until Monday.

Microfiche printer

The printer for the microfiche/film reader is NOT working. It prints only the left 2 thirds of the page. Leanne says Michael is not in today, so we will have to wait until tommorow.

E303 and E160 classes

Caroline in reference is developing a weekly calendar of classes taking place in E303 and/or E160. Since it is in development I haven't put a direct link on the sidebar to it, but until then check it out in the sidebar of their internal blog at: http://norlinreference.blogspot.com/.
