X. Scheduling
- We will be hosting the September 12 GoPIG meeting (taking place in N410).
- Jim Williams will be talking to selective depositories about the services we provide as a regional.
- We will be discussing the State Plan at this meeting.
II. Providing Fiche Replacements to Selectives
- Brice and Peggy are considering options for providing fiche replacements to selective depositories. One option under consideration (not definite): proposal to Alliance to purchase a machine that duplicates fiche and reproduces electronic versions; could be available via Pascal (ergo all our fiche would be sent to Pascal).
III. X Microfiche
- Doug Ernest (CSU) has offered us 8 cabinets containing NASA database fiche identified by the letter X. We're not sure if we want them, because they don't have bib. records and are accompanied by strict rules re: who can have copies of the fiche. Peggy will contact NASA to learn more about these restrictions.
IV. Cataloging
- Jennie and Peggy are trying to arrange a meeting with the cataloging department so that we can discuss several outstanding cataloging issues with them (giving another GovPubs staff person the ability to do Global Updates, etc.)
- Fort Lewis is thinking about becoming a selective depository. Peggy, Louise Treff-Gangler, and McKinley Sielaff will meet with FL to discuss this.
VI. Remember to take a look at the two Worldbank databases now available on a trial basis.
VIII. Research & Instruction
- Caroline Sinkinson stopped by to familiarize our department with R&I in preparation for the forthcoming combined Research Desk.
- Caroline distributed a handout containing guidelines for fall instruction requests and scheduling.
- Sharepoint Site: Jennie, Leanne, and Salem now have access to R&I's Sharepoint site and can log in with the same username and password used for their PC. They should check out folders entitled "Instruction" and "Policies & Procedures." Some bullet pts. below are discussed in further detail in these folders.
- The R&I instruction calendar in Outlook is publicly available as a shared calendar.
- This semester, E303 is the only room in Norlin being used for LI. Because of this limited space, Norlin will only offer one LI class to each course requesting instruction this term. For classes with high number of sections (big lecture classes), we will offer LI classes to individual sections coordinated through their TAs.
- Peggy mentioned that R&I training next Wednesday (August 3) will be preempted by the Research Desk training in N410.
IX. Hearings Records
- Jennie asked us not to delete survey URLs that she's added to Millenium records for hearings (in MARC field 856). She's tracking use of both print and electronic hearings as part of her research. All hearings records should contain these survey URLs by the end of the week of 8/25.
- Notify Jennie if you add a URL to a record for a hearing.
X. Scheduling
- Linda offered to cover Salem's evening shift on September 10 (Salem won't have a car then).
- September 18: University Libraries will offer minimal service hours because of the football game taking place that day.
