British Parliamentary Papers
Hi everyone the season of British Parliamentary Papers usage appears to be coming back. So I thought I would just post a quick little reminder on how to use this resource.
1) Have a Cd., C, Cmd, number? Search Chinook using the C, Cmd, Cd as a title and you will get a record listing our paper holdings. We have a whole row of these in paper and they are available for checkout! And despite what you may have heard they are NOT all cataloged.
2) If that doesn't work walk on over to the CD-ROM computers and under international/foreign publications you will see the CDs we have covering up to 1945. Want after 1945, well life gets a little more interesting. We have a ton of paper indexes over next to the Colorado reference shelves. If you are lucky you might also find the resource in BOPCRIS.
3) What you need before going downstairs:
* The year
* The volume number (keep it in roman numerals, thats what we have downstairs)
* The page number
4) Just bring up the whole box of microprint from the basement. We are barcoding and swiping the box for in-house use. If you luck out and want from the 1970s to the present they are in microfiche one row down from the NARA film.
5) Lost confused, just can't figure it out? Just give me a call and I'll come and help the patron out. If they don't have a citation, in some cases the print indexes are actually better then the paper ones for finding what they want. We also may have some great resources in print that are uncataloged. For example, yesterday someone was looking for some colonial command papers and I was also able to direct her to some of our colonial reports from the years she wanted in paper. I love having an excuse to tell people about those foreign documents so please don't hesitate to send them my way!
