Staff meeting, 7/31/07
Information from PS meeting: Tim reported the following:
There was a SciFinder breach of contract incident. Massive amounts of downloading occurred and the University Libraries was presented with a bill for over $200,000. University Counsel is investigating. Culshaw noted that this may result in the Libraries requiring an Identikey to log on to all library computers. If that happens, GovPubs will have to set up a log in for public patrons, in order to provide access to government publications. Cabinet will be discussing the SciFinder issue today, meaning discussion of filling Martin's position will be postponed.
The Business Library will begin moving this week. People and furniture will move first, then boxes.
CSU request: Pat reported that CSU has expressed an interest (via Hollis in Specal Collections) in the Colorado agricultural materials we have in our collection. They would like to have a complete collection, because they are the state ag school.
Discard list issues: Jennie brought up some concerns. In a the discussion of item converting pieces, it is up to the individual whether to do this or not. However, since there is no one available to process duplicates, we will not pull them at this time.
Miscellaneous: Faisal is our volunteer student, who will be working through August. Linda announced that she will be on jury duty the first week of classes. Preservation is doing a sample of our materials for evaluation purposes. If the piece is really bad, they will keep it. Otherwise, everything just goes back on the shelf.
