Department Meeting minutes Nov. 2, 2010
Peggy’s announcements included discussion of the extension of the IMF trial, our dealings with LexisNexis for new or extended databases, the trip next week to Colorado Springs to check out their collection and the problems with the load of Eric documents. The ERIC problems included the missing record fields for titles in Prospector, microfiche of commercial products from 1966-2004 and verifying user affiliation.
1. Deb passed out copies of department and ARL statistics for 2009-2010 which we then commented on.
2. It was decided that any decision made in a meeting that needs adding to the wiki will be added by that week’s note taker.
3. The Serials information agenda item began with a discussion of order of checkin records. Deb proposed a new order, but no decision was made. Deb suggested that we link from our wiki to the CMS blog/sharepoint to include their decisions with ours. However, she was not able to find anything so she will go through her ERSA minutes and make a list of pertinent information.
4. A,Y3’s and Y10’s discussion: Peggy will check with Marcive to see if we can get the location code changed for these items.
5. Preservation discussion: we are trying to work out a routine for handling damaged material. The head of preservation asked us not to make many repairs ourselves. In time, we will be provided the supplies and be trained to make minor repairs. She mentioned that the Filmoplast repair tape is being phased out. Additionally, she suggested that Preservation might be able to go through any area we are planning to shift.
