Government Information Meeting Minutes Wednesday, September 15, 2010

1. Announcements
Peggy – the ERIC records should be loaded within the next 2 weeks. There are 400,000, so they will be loaded 50,000 at a time. These will duplicate the records for the fiche we already have. The request page will be changing to request the digital copy.
Peggy’s presentation at the PS meeting this morning went great.
Deb told us that at the ERSA meeting she mentioned that she had moved a bunch of item records that were out of order, and asked if they could do the same if they came across them. They said that moving items within a large group would crash Chinook, and that’s why they don’t do it. As we have done this many times, we are dubious.
Deb has revised the wiki. Please take a look to see if it makes sense, and add in anything in your area.

2. Refworks 2.0 demo (Jennie)
Refworks 2.0 will be up sometime in the spring or summer. Jennie demonstrated some of its snazzier features.

3. iLibrary patron driven titles (Jennie)
You can tell these by the OCLC code in the record. These are from Coutts. When 3 people have looked at the actual publication, we’ve bought it, which generates “purchased” in a 956 field. You can look at 10 pages at a time, download or print, or export to RefWorks. Unlimited simultaneous users.

4. Encore fun (all)
Jennie showed us another good thing about Encore. You can put the professor or the course in the search box and come up with Reserves. We also discovered that you can get into electronic reserves without a course ID.
The facets for place are pulled from the subjects.
In ResearchPro, Esbsco has “full text” and “peer –reviewed.”
